I would assume it is petty theft if it is valued under $500 dollars so probably a misdemeanor? Try researching Texas state law.

Depends on the type of gun and value and if its loaded, if it was taken from a home or business and if any other crime was committed in obtaining this gun. There are many factors in play here.

It does not matter what time offense it is, you have just stolen a weapon that could potentially kill someone. I doubt you really did this.
