If it is a strain and you are young, it will hopefully heal. It's when you do it for yrs. and keep harming the same area that it may not heal. Then you are in trouble. This can happen in sports or jobs thaqt require repetetive motions i.e. typing, factory work. You can use ice on the injury for the first 48 hrs. 20 min. on 30 off and then use heat in between after that. Get some antiinflamatory drugs like motrin or alieve or advil and take as directed, with food. Rest the body part and in 6 wks. you should be ok. It may feel better before that but it will not be healed. Healing of a sprain or a strain takes that long. Trying to use again too soon will definetly cause it to return. If it is a joint like a knee or elbow, use an ace bandage wrapped not too tight but so it keeps you from moving it , imobile and steady, this will help. When you are resting take the bandage off and make sure you don't wrap it too tight, you need blood to get to the injury. Good luck.
