Well, the process is cellular respiration, which happens in all cells, so I think it is just a hand cell. Basically, the cell's mitochondria takes in oxygen(from breathing) and glucose(from food) and cellular respiration occurs to turn them into ATP and a byproduct of cellular respiration CO2. So after cellular respiration occurs the CO2 is released and it is exhaled. It's more complicated than that but this is a short answer.

The first answer is correct; the CO2 is emitted via the bloodstream to the lungs. The epidermis is keratinized, meaning that there is a layer of dead cells and a sort of cement, this makes the body waterproof and blocks gas emisions.

Carbon dioxide is carried through the blood (in hemoglobin), and then it reaches the lungs where it will be released through the capillaries and then it is exhaled.
