80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Only human beings can 'think' like that. Lesser lifes of animals cannot do so. When such is the case, think better for a better life and make this one a happier one by helping others and not doing harm to others, the thinking now goes to a higher plane and says "what a life?" and how fortunate 'are we'?

I believe that I do understand your question. You are asking what is the purpose of being here in this Earth. You know, that that is a question that I have always asked myself. Just as of lately I have come up with my own conclusion. We live in this Earth because God put us here, to enjoy life, to enjoy procreation, to enjoy the beauty of our Earth, to enjoy our children, to enjoy seeing our little one growing up. And many, many more things. I could go on forever on this. You are on this Earth to help and protect mankind, lets not forget our animals too.
There is a joy that you find every morning you wake up and see the sun shinning, the joy of seeing raindrops fall.
The love that you feel for another human being. All these things are why you are here for.
God, sacrify himself for us, we have to be firm in our believe and show our Father in Heaven, that we deserve to be here. He is surely proud of us, like any other Father, of the things we do to help others.
If you have not found yet what the purpose of your life is, at least meditate, believe in yourself if no one else, you might see the light of what a precious thing life is.
Imagine, the joy that your Mother had when she had you, you were a small little miracle. Imagine, that from just a tiny little seed implanted in your mothers womb you came out, and became the person you are now.
I hope that you find what you are looking for, because I have foudn it already. God Bless.

Why such disgusted question ? There are many uses of life. We have to understand the meaning of it and act according to it as far as we can and it will be very enjoyable. so what is the meaning of life-
Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

ok, your question is a little bit deeper. someone else just asked what was the meaning of life and that was a little bit easier to answer.

u making me think really hard here.

i guess the use of our life would be to set good examples for the future so that mankind will survive in the game of survival of the fittest. so we must use our lives to create, learn and improve things. i am very spiritual so i think our lives our very useful in the eyes of God.

We are here to take care of each-other.
There can be no other reason that would fit in with creation
and our relations with the rest of the universe.
We must be a positive influence.
