This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.
1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't li ke you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
9. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.
10. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
So... If you are a loving friend, send this to everyone, including the one that sent it to you. If you get it back, then they really do love you.

Look around the room and make eye contact with someone and smile. Be brave and move closer if they smile back and start up a conversation. It can be simple like 'Hi, I'm (your name), how do you know ...(the host)' Anything just to break the ice and then you'll find you soon get introduced to others. Or you can always hover around conversations and smile and then join in at an appropriate moment. They may even introduce themselves when they see you standing there. Good luck!

First things first: Whenever you go to a social function, go with a REALLY good friend who won't just up and walk away from you unless it's for a visit to the restroom. Second, stay in one area of the room or building(in cases of patios or decks or pools) and let people come to you as they come and go. This can help you deal with some of the issues at hand. Plus that, because you've got a friend with you whom you trust, you won't be som lonely and afraid of the crowd either!!

Start making friends. Keep a smile on your face. Or take someone to the "room" (metaphorically speaking) with you.

try going up to someone and giving then a compliment (i really like your dress, where's it from?etc) then just carry on talking. If it's awkward walk away and try someone else - its unlikely that you're not going to like anyone in the whole room!
