For a straight line defined by y = ax + b

the slope is a

example y = 3x + 5

the slope of this line is 3

another way you can do this is

slope = rise/run,

rise = y2 - y1
run = x2 - x1

I'm guesing your talking about math and graphing.

From left to right the formula is # of units rise divided by # of units run. up 3 over 4 is 3/4 slope. down 3 over 4 is -3/4 slope.

okay, you do the rise over the run.

y = mx + b.

or it can be used as a fraction:

2/3. The rise on a graph is the #2. the run going across is #3.

dont know if this is what u want.

basically slove can be find with various method.......
trigonometrically
slope(m)=tan@= perpendicular/base

slope(m)=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are two given coordinate

m= (coordinate of x)/(coordinate of y ) on eqn y=mx+c :ex,,(-4)y=2x+6 where m=2/(-4)=(-1/2)

do you know what slopes are at least?

Be more specific and I could help you out.
