cos x = +- sqr(3)/2
x = arccos[+-sqr(3)/2] .

I hope that you mean 4(cos x)^2 = 3; if so then
(cos x)^2 = 3/4
cos x = +- sqr(3)/2
x = arccos[+-sqr(3)/2]
