you are blowing your smoke and I walk past waving my hand saying OMG that stinks and saying how I don't understand how people can smoke because they make themselves stink..............................I do this all the time but it just dawned on me the other day that I may be offending people.

Some of you guys are so stupid!!!!!
Obviously I'm saying I never realized that I was offending them you idiots.....why would I walk to the smoke purposely. If they are standing somewhere where I have to get through e.g the top of the stairs, then I will smell the smoke regardless!!!!!!!

"Offended" isn't the right word, really. Normally, if I'm sitting outside having a cigarette, and someone walks by and does that, I find myself thinking that that person should've just moved over a bit instead of complaining (loudly) about me smoking in the one place I'm still allowed to.
Don't get me wrong. I'm for totally non-smoking restaurants (and bars that are non-smoking before 8pm or so) and I hate it when people blow smoke in my face, too. Still, people do all sorts of things that I don't like... it's not really my place to passively-aggressively tell them so.
It's nice to see a non-smoker that thinks they might be offending the smokers. You're one in a million, seriously.

Ya know what , I am a smoker, and sometimes I get annoyed when someone smokes in a car and my clothes reek of smoke. However, my dear, there have been many times when a young lady walks by me with some of this new perfume that you wear that gags me or makes me sneeze. Your gesture is not offensive, it is annoying, I have smelled people with b.o. that smells worse than any cigarette smoker , yet I do not walk by waving my hand because of the smell, it would be rather discourteous, especially if the person that smells has a medical problem that causes the b.o.

It's your home - you have to right to ask people not to smoke. They shouldn't be offended. They should have asked first if you minded if they smoked; that would be the polite thing to do. And throwing their cigarette butts on the ground? That is extremely rude and disrespectful! I think it would be a good idea to put an ashtray somewhere that you would like your friends to smoke. If someone starts to light up in the patio, you could mention that there is an ashtray around the corner. They should get the hint, and you won't sound rude.

Oh please! It's your intention to offend. You're on a power kick. You saw them smoking and you walked by so that you could insult them. I don't smoke but, I don't carry on like that either. If smokers don't go out of their way to invade my space then I respect their right to smoke. I bet you have some real bad secret vices that the smokers don't. They are human beings. They go outside to smoke so, stop going out of your way to walk closely by them.

Of course I get offended. I can't smoke anywhere except my home, car, and outside. I will continue to smoke in those places and enjoy it no matter wht you or anyone else thinks.

No. I just think you're too lazy to move your *** a few feet away. And that you're just a bit dumb, since you think I'm going to be offended, or feel bad about it. Come on: it's OUTSIDE! Ouh la la!!!
PS: When I wait for the bus, I DO NOT smoke inside the bus shelter. I walk a few feet away.

Would you do the same thing to someone who was wearing too much perfume of perhaps someone with bad breath? If you think it might be offensive, chances are some people will take it that way
