i love your question first of all. I feel the same way. since i have been taught about God and such i have never felt that religious. I always wonder whether he/she/it/them does exist. I mean ok a bunch of guys wrote books about a God..but this happens now, its called fiction. Correct me if im wrong but God never wrote anything. No text of his purpose or a way to leave a legacy in which he would be remembered and there really is no evidence. Many of history is passed my word of mouth and writings, im sure someone must have made a typo at someone. Or said something wrong. Im just so confused as well.

I disagree with the first answer about gravity. You can sense and observe gravity by measuring its effects on objects. If there was no gravity you wouldn't have objects orbiting each other and you also probably wouldn't have stars and planets since mass would not lump together. You can see the effects of gravity but gravity has not been explained yet. On the other hand, there is absolutely no proof that God exists that can be verified by observation or any other senses for that matter.

I think that the majority of people believe in God because that is how they were raised by their family. The belief in God was conditioned into them from childhood and they were expected to believe in God.

Other people believe in God because they really want an explanation for why things are the way they are and WHY the universe exists. Science will tell you about HOW things work, but you can only take it to a certain level until you break things down to their most basic elements. Beyond that, science can't help you explain the WHY.

Personally, I think people who believe in a God (at least in the way that Christians, etc. do) are DELUSIONAL.

However, I don't think it's that bad as long as they are a good person, even if they are a bit hypocritical.

Religion requires faith in the belief that God exists. I've had the same thoughts but under extreme circumstances I found myself making the promise. . .if I get out of here alive, I'll. . .Oh yea. That's a prayer. I certainly believe in the power of prayer. It's not tangible but I swear I have been in places where I could feel the power of people all praying for the same thing. The Rosicrusians all pray at the same time the world over for something to help humanity. They believe it helps. I had a great psych teacher that believed in the power of positive thinking. I took that away from the class and used it and I believe it works and it is much on the same line as above and certainly intangible. Try it on that bad luck! It will take you on an interesting journey if you pay attention.

Its called faith. And not only is there an incountable number of facts to prove that God is real but miracles are still happening today. God does not come to earth and make people believers because He gives us a choice whether or not to accept eternal life in heaven. As for the people who have never been taught, I pity them. It should not be that anyone isn't taught because everyone came from Adam and Eve (the first people created) who were taught directly from God so these poor people's ancestors are responsible for their not knowing. I know it seems unfair, but there is no other way it should be done. If you truly are not sure what to believe i suggest you go to the Bible. You don't have to buy one, you could rent it or I'm sure a local Christian church will be very happy to give you a Bible. And as for bad luck, there is no such thing. God controls everything and decides whether to bless you or not. If you are not following Him then he may be punishing you. He might be trying to show you that you need to accept him. He may be trying to stregthen your faith as a believer or draw you closer to Him. If you feel like something is missing in your life then i know for a fact God is calling you. He loves you and wants you to spend an eternity with Him in heaven. Of course He gives you a choice, but if you don't accept it can only lead down a path of despair, destruction and sadness in hell.

Its all about the power you have and where you place it. If you believe in a God and act acordingly you are giving that God the power you control. There is plenty evidence for existance and love but beyound these truths things get harder to know 4 sure. I know I exist and I know I can recieve love and hopefuly give it also. But sense all these things like everything that exists is based on a perspective its impossible to know what the other is thinking while you retain sense of self. I have given up a bit of my belief in self to be a part of this universe I think it was a cost worth paying.

Mostly comfort I think. Knowing that there is something when we die, knowing that what they are doing is some higher purpose. If you want to believe in a God, which one? The God of the Bible is a very confusing one and one that I can't believe. The Old Testament shows God committing genocide, belittling women, and killing people for ridicules reasons. Jesus doesn't always teach peace, sometimes he says to pick up a sword and ignore your family or leave them behind. Everyone culture past and present has had their own God, yet theirs or ours is the only true one, depending on who you talk to.

I think you should believe in yourself. If you don't know something, don't take any ones word on it, learning it and find out for yourself. Be critical of everything, but show kindness and love to others.

Oh well, its like the wind blowing, u dont see the wind, but u see
the effects it has, u see the tree leaves moving.
With God, u see the effects, u see nature, u see prayers being answered.
He is already here on Earth in the spirit, read the Bible and pray and u will feel it.
Every family has bad luck, u just got to pray to God and try to turn your luck around.
U suppose to believe that God sent his son Jesus Christ to die
for our sins. Read John 3:16, it explains it all.
And by the blood of Jesus, u are saved
All have sinned and come short. We are just humans,
God thinks above human thoughts, he is powerful.

We believe because we feel.

Those who, as you say, have never been taught, can't be held accountable for what they don't know. Leave that to God and don't worry so much about it.
Besides.....those who don't hear what we call the "Christian" messege......believe in a Creator, a worldwide flood story, a God figure, and a after life. I reallly don't think that the Creator will be so judgmental that only people who are Churchie make it to heaven.

Feel. You can feel it the comfort and peace that was promised. The miracles that can happen. Prophecy that came to be true and the Son of God who was prophecied to come. And prophecies that are to come but no one knows when,Jesus came to earth, there are many miracles today Healings. You are saved or go to heaven are written in the book of life once you accept Jesus died for your sins.Jesus came for that purpose and made it so easy to get to heaven yet he knew many will not belliev in the end times. Also it was prophesied many would turn away from God.You dont need to go to church to go to heaven all you need is Jesus and accept him.It is by Grace alone not by works.Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
Believe that Jesus is your savior and trust him pray to him about every little problem and pray for those who maybe suffering in the ways you are. Also pray for the poor.Believe anything can be done through God.There is a hell and sadlly many refuse to believe and joke about it but maybe one day I pray they will see its no joke.

A partial list of tings I believe in even though I can't see it touch it or feel it:
The air
my imagination
tomorrow
yesterday
The East Coast(I live on the West Coast)
black holes
other galaxies
etc. etc.etc.......get it? What you perceive through your senses is the smallest part of reality. You can't possibly begin to grasp what is real until you can start perceiving outside the box
