I was given 10-12 blue "ivy bowls" - those little round bowls with the scalloped edge. I feel obligated to use them for the shower. Problem is 1.) The baby is a girl. 2.) Most of the colors being used are pink and green with a "rose" theme.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can do with the bowls? I can't float a rose in them because they are too dark to see through, really.

Go to the craft store and get a can of Krylon "Make It Pearl" spray paint which adheres well to glass and ceramics and turn the blue bowls into pink or green bowls. Fill them with clear marbles and anchor a pink taper candle in them and surround the candle with pink silk roses. Another nice touch would be to hot glue a piece of beaded trim around the 'neck' of the bowl for added sparkle.

You could wrap them with fabric and use them as a vase. Sit the vase in the center of a large circle of fabric and pull it up the sides and tie with a ribbon.

Or you could use them for a party game. Have the guests throw diaper pins into them from a distance. If the guest gets one in they get a small prize. Test the game though to make sure it's not too easy... or too hard. Then the diaper pins can be given to the mom to be at the end of the shower.

SKIP THE BOWLS....seriously. If you don't want to use them....find another way to incorporate them into the shower without making them a focal point. Put some nuts in them (ha ha). As far as what to do with the bowls....use them for practical applications during the shower. Put supplies for the games in them......

GET A DIAPERCAKE, instead!! Much more UNIQUE and way more memorable!!

Put a pink votive candle in each one and fill in around it with something maybe rose scented potpourri beads, or those decorating stones.
