I would like this all explained to me as if I'm the special kid in class. Ok I know what they are. But I was wondering o if you are dropping then you are a -3 to begin with? Becuz they say -4 is a floater? What does that mean? I was reading so many things today and one said 0 is engaged and which I guess would mean fully dropped? Another said 0 is when you begin to drop. I am wondering this becuz my doctor told me on the 18th that I was dropping. I have an appointment tomorrow and I am just wondering where I might be. I need this to be explained like I'm stupid becuz I dont understand alot of the mumbo jumbo the doctors on sites write out.

ALSO Is i you have up to 4 weeks after the baby drops or when the baby starts to drop before you will most likely give birth? This is my first pregnancy to make it this far....I'm 34 weeks!

When you have a negative (-) number (i.e. -3), it means that the baby's head is out of the pelvis. A zero (0) represents that the baby's head is at the bottom of the pelvis (fully engaged). When you have plus (+) number (i.e. +3), this means that the baby's beginning to crown or will pass through the birth canal soon.

Engagement just means how far down in the pelvis the baby's presenting part (usually the head) is. Station is a number given to where the presenting part is. The baby is engaged when it is at 0 station. 0 station is when the presenting part is at the ischial spines. At +3 the baby's head is at the vaginal opening with the perineum bulging.
