Hydrogen peroxide!!!!!!!!!! Do it while the sheet is still on the bed if you need to just make sure to follow with cold water or wet rag to absorb it. .. WORKS ON OLD BLOOD TOO!!!
Just like you would pour on a cut. It boils the blood out no matter what it is on, you or an object. Just pour some on the spot & let it boil for a few minutes, dab it up with a cold damp rag. Keep doing it, it make take a couple times depending how bad it is.
I've had to do this on white t-shirts while I was wearing it! It works on grape wine stains too(peroxide mixed with soap) .

I guess the reason you don't want to use bleach is because it is a colored sheet, this is what you should have done if the blood hasn't stay that long or has set too long, you wash the portion with cold water with bath soap,it will take out much of the blood,if there are still stains, wash it again with cold water with soap and pour some lemon or lime juice don't wash it in hot water if yu haven't remove most of the blood stain.

Blood is one of the hardest stains to completely remove (just watch CSI if you don't believe me).

BTW : Hydrogen peroxide IS a bleach ... test that one out before you use it.

Read the labels on some spot cleaners ... look for one that deals with blood in a biological manner by disolving, breaking down or reducing the hemoglobin / platlets. That is the stuff that adds the red color to the stain.

Next time kill Mr. Body in the Kitchen with a Rope... less blood and easier to clean.

Don't use peroxide - it's likely to remove the color. Try using a color safe bleach like Clorox for color and your regular detergent directly on the stains. Agitate the soap with a small brush before washing. Don't dry the sheets after washing. Check on the stains first.

My son cut a digital artery and bled all over my comforter that I had just bought 3 days prior. After returning from the hospital, I mixed powder OxyClean according to directions and did exactly what they said to do for the stain....that was 5+ years ago and you can still see no trace of a blood stain ever being their.

Saturate the area with a prewash, such as shout. Rub a bit of dish washing detergent into the area. Place in the washer, fill with cold water, let soak. After about an hour, place your usual amount of laundry soap in the wash and run through your normal cycle

cold water and some of that liquid hand soap, rub together under cold water, repeat then pour some hydrogen peroxide over it. repeat steps until you have removed the stain then launder as usual.
if you want to be sure the stain is gone, hang dry and check, don't put in dryer. this will set the stain.

try white spray paint or scissors. but if want to actually save your sheets, perhaps oxy-clean or lemon juice. (Im not sure on the lemon juice; I just heard my grandmoter say it once...)
...

...My mother just came downstairs and she says that soak the sheet till the stain is almost gone then wash with warm water and strong detergent. to stubborn stains, add a few drops of ammonia and wash again with detergent.

OxiClean works on blood, grass stains, dirt, mud, red wine, some lipsticks and other hard to remove stains. If it is the bleach that concerns you, try the unscented kind.

I'm using a product called DISSOLVE, which is a cleaning product normally used to get hairspray off of bathroom walls, curling irons, etc... However, it's the only thing I use to get stains out of anything. You can get it at Sally's beauty supply, but I normally buy it on their web site at dissolvecleaner.com. You'll love it.
