I just don't understand why people smoke, are they completly daft and do not realize the consequences, or just too lazy to quit? I mean who likes spending so much money to disrespect their own bodies, as well as everyone else around them, and ultimatly the greater public's tax money through the extra health care they tend to eventually need. Am I missing any other reasons?

I smoke every now and then. I guess I just do not care if I live to be 70 as opposed to 80.

I am a smoker with copd and cant figure out how to stop smoking! I have tried many products on the market without success, nicotine is very additive and for smokers there's no place for rehab like alcoholics and drug addicts. If the us government really cared they would ban the manufacture of tobacco products . I know this is not the answer you were looking for but maybe it gives insight into way all people cant quit

I am a non-smoker but have many friends and family members who smoke. They tell me it's very addictive--they know the consequences but find it very hard to stay away from cigarettes. I don't think it's laziness, it's just something I won't understand because I've never smoked. I do worry about their health, but I can't force them to quit if they don't want to. As long as I am not around the smoke, it does not bother me. I understand your view, but I think that is just how it is.

Because I am a dumb ***. My brother died of lung cancer and I and his children continue to smoke, and yes I worry about it, but ya know what, I am going to die of something someday, so I may as well die of something I enjoy. Now I am not being rebellious when I say this, but go outside , especially if you live in a city, and take a deep breath, you just breathed in more toxins than one of my cigarettes has. So what the hell, why not, there is so much pollution I don't know which is the lesser of two evils anymore
