Honey, measuring with a tape is just the old fashioned way of telling the approximate time of your pregnancy and if the baby is growing at the approximate rate as expected. The fact that you are measuring smaller, may just mean that your baby has a little more catching up to do. Not every baby grows at the same rate, nor do the ultrasounds prove anything either. In my experience with friends and relatives, some have been told their babies are overweight, and they we not. Some have been told their babies are under weight, and they were born heavier then expected.
If your doctor thought there was an emergency, he would have put you in the hospital and done the ultrasound right away. So do not panic, until the doctor tells you there is a specific problem. Believe me, the scientific end of birthing, is not always accurate, and most times, worries become relief after the baby comes and proof that it is healthy, despite everything to the contrary.

At my appointment last week (two days short of being 35 weeks) the dr. told me "31/32 cm." I'm assuming that means I'm somewhere in the area of 31.5, but he said that was just fine. I had an ultrasound back in September (roughly 24 weeks, I think), and haven't had one since. The doctor has no intention of doing another one unless I go to 41 weeks. If the doctor's not worried about it, then neither am I. By all means, don't panic. Your doctor will tell you if there's something to be concerned about. Especially since they measured you, they'd have done something if they were worried. There's no reason to go to the ER, since there's nothing they could do for you besides call your doctor and make him/her explain why you're okay.
Good luck, and try not to stress!

I am told that the first ultrasound you have, is the due date that they go by. I am actually messuring bigger than I am. I am due Jan. 30th but the Dr. is saying I won't make it that long. It is confusing with how they do the weeks and especially with the measuring tape. I would not worry about it. At your next apointment explain that you dont understand how it all works and for them to explain it to you. I would not go to the ER unless you are having an emergency. They probally wont answer the questions as clear as you would like anyways. It's nothing to worry about though.

Your baby is probably just a small peanut, there is no need to go to the ER, it is not a emergency. If it was they would not wait a week. I think it depends how tall you are too how you are measuring. I am pretty short and I always measured a little bigger plus my son was almost 9 pounds! Try to eat more protein and a well balanced diet and don't worry! Congrats and good luck to you.

There is a range of normal , and a lot depends on your body type and activity level. DON'T smoke or drink or drug, and you'll be fine. Even if the baby is a little small, the upside is that you won't need to stretch quite as far at delivery. So, relax and enjoy this great time in your life. Best of luck.

I wouldn't be too worried. I measured small just around those weeks too. they sent me for an ultrasound and found that the baby was fine, I just wasn't carrying as much fluid as most do. Every pregnancy is different, try and take it easy :)

i was 38 weeks with my daughter... she measured 36 weeks... down to 0% amniotic fluid.. and she was breech.
a c-section later (2 weeks early)...
she was fine and perfect!
she is now 10 yrs old..
don't worry too much about it.. i know that's hard to do, or not to do, lol.. but it will all work out.
wait the week for the sonogram.. unless otherwise told by your doctor. don't go making your own rules.. that will not work.
congrats on the upcoming birth!

The mesurments are not always accurate. I mesured larger, and the ultra sounds can be off aswell. My last ultrasound put my baby at 8Lbs, 3 days before I delivered. Imagine my surprise when I delieverd a 6lb 14oz baby

Don't worry so much. My Dr. told me there is a natural curve of three weeks in the whole measurement theory.
Calm down, you will be fine
