He plagiarized from several individuals including Dr. Jack Boozer, Harry Emerson Fosdick, and Archibald Carey.

Much of King's speeches were in fact ghost written. He does have a PhD from Boston University, even though it was later discovered that about 1/3 of his dissertation was plagiarised. And yes the FBI had an enormous file on him, but then again the FBI had an enormous file on John Lennon and many other harmless persons.
Dr. King was not an intellectual. He was however a legendary orator, a genius motivator and precisely the right man at the right time. He was a figurehead of a movement and served as the inspiration for a generational change in US history. We are all certainly better off that he (and his faults) were around as long as he was.
