Because everyone knows ppl under 18 look at porn, plus if a kid views porn, it's not really goina mess them up. Unless they really like it, and get additicted. Otherwise they just see it, get grossed out and leave, i think it's better that when then to just ban them, because they will just keep being curious. So yah why the law?

Why?, because ther is people who dont care about theyr childrens, plus if you realy want to talk about the effects that one children have just for wach some porn. you wont belive it, so if you meant that porn does not have a rely bad effect on childrens, I'm telling you to stody more on this subject before you go into conclutions, because you are totaly wrong on that, the childrens that see this thinks, do not develop good at school, they have problems dealing with other childrens of the oposite sex, they can have mental problems that will not help them to make good thinking ability, basicly leting a chield to wach this will make so much damage to hes life, you wont understand it untill you see it.
And this is why there is a law that does not alow a chiel under 18 to wach this thinks. Its good it's for they protection. And there is anotherone, against anyone over 18 that let anyone under 18 to wach this, in other words, if a partent or anyone else is known to let hes chield or another chieldren but hes own, to wach porn, he or she goes to jail.

Pornography is the great immunizer to sexual highs. (This is from psychology 101).
In essence, a person viewing pornography gets a sexual high from watching porn. He/she sees a sexy male/female and decides that sexuality can only be assuaged through extreme activities. Unfortunately, unlike the movies, some people just don't want sex all the time. The males and females in real life, don't quite have the "accoutrements" that the actors do on the screen.
So the viewer becomes more addicted to the high on the screen than they do to their spouse/mate/friend. The viewer also becomes incapable of having a normal relationship. Young boys who start watching porn become even more deviant than men who started watching porn. They have no emotions valid enough to form solid relationships.
Keep in mind, that there is more to any relationship than sex. A person who lives their lives for sex has a very poor quality of life that diminishes over the years as they become older.
Promiscuity (which porn encourages) is the great nullifier of emotions. Women who sleep around become very cold and indifferent. Men who sleep around become blasé about whomever they might trick into the sack.
Porn can mess up anyone, and I have see the brain scans to prove it. People who view pornography on a regular basis have less active frontal lobes. These lobes are very important for logic, thought processes, memory, and emotion.

Cos you need to have limits. the age of 18 assumes a certain level of maturity and that if you want sex you can understand your choice. The same cannot be said for an 8 year old who could look at porn (if it were legal at that age) and decide it must be ok to do it because theres no law against it.
Its just like smoking, it affects your health but its legal so people do it. If it were illegal less people would probably smoke.

Because some parents think it's the government's job to set the age limits on what they consider "harmful material," and politicians make promises to get legislation passed during their campaign. People under 18 who disagree can't vote against them.

Seems the government assumes everyone matures at the same age, so they made 18 the legal age for most everything (except alcohol). Unfortunately, not everyone matures at the same age so it kind of makes their laws seem quite senseless at times. I guess you cant tailor a law just to suit the individual.

The female body is obviously a sinful thing. If you can show people being murdered on prime time television, but not one nipple- perhaps we've got a values problem in america.
(the sarcasm is coming through- isn't it?)
Oh- trust me. Teenage boys aren't going to get grossed out by porn. There's some really hot chicks posing naked on the net. I promise you- they'll like it. (it's called being normal)
