Some different ideas to get punters through the doors.
Quiz night
Happy Hour(s)
Curry Night
2 for 1 meals for early birds (meals eaten early)
Raffles
Open mic night (not just karaoke) - people love to perform and you get free entertainment.
Beer festival
Free buffet with drink offer
Get in touch with anyone in a darts team or similar group and persuade them to use your pub as a venue.
Drop your menu off at local businesses/schools to persuade them to eat at lunchtimes
Also, look at the decor of your pub. Keep your pub cosy, dim the lights. Consider switching the music and telly off now and again. Lots of us older punters really like a chat rather than constant background noise. If you do food, keep it simple, reasonably priced and tasty - or just stick to rolls and sandwiches.

Have you thought about enticing social groups in that already exist? I run a group and we meet at our local JJ Moons and stay for a couple of hours....they do well out of us.
Have a women's afternoon?
Family afternoon......invest in a few games?
Have newspapers and board games out on show for people to use.
If you do food, do lunchtime specials that include a drink.
This may sound odd but do an OAP's afternoon....lots of them are lonely and even if they're not ....be nice for them if they knew it would be people like them there....I think they'd have more confidence going in.
Above all else, to make sure you reach as many of the local population as you can make sure everything is very clean and well presented with extremely smart clean loos!
Good luck.

often once you examine the letters web page in a newspaper they continuously print "for and adverse to" type of letters - and that is the way it really is going to be. no one expects a paper to print all letters yet as you assert there could be a balanced view. As for a hate marketing campaign - nicely, some human beings may be spitting the vitriol - like numbnuts manoverboard does to the "anti McC" camp. yet as I keep saying right here - i do not HATE the McC's cos i do not comprehend them - yet i don't like the very shown reality that their moves delivered about the kidnapping of Madeleine. and that i don't like the very shown reality that they are gaining movie star status and achieveable wealth from this tragedy. i imagine the paper is rather incorrect if it truly is the problem.

Quiz night, killer pool (win a gallon of beer), charity raffle, bbq days etc. These all seem to work for my local. Even a pool table or dart board if you havent got them already.
