I would give anything to have grown up in Woodstock, New York. We go there because my mom's best friend lives there, and it's so nice, it's the place I dream of living, so peaceful and pretty...there's not a millionth of the amount of gas I breathe in everyday, there's actual rivers, not one for miles here at least one that is'nt filled with sewage...I HATE the city : (

I grew up in rural Illinois. We ran around at night, played catch and baseball in the road, it was great. There was a field right across the road, with a stream (crick) running through it. Our neighbor had a pony which they let us ride.
It was bliss.

I'm sorry that's how you feel. I was born in Miami and raised in the mountains of North Carolina. I always loved the city, the nightlife and there's always something to do. In the end, I kept coming home to our town.
Well, it's no longer a tiny town - it's become the "hot spot" of the south and is being taken over by NY'rs, Fla.'rs and Cali relocaters. The taxes have gone sky high and the people that have always lived here can't afford to anymore. Now I almost hate the country and miss the big city....

I hate cities too but I've ended up living in different ones for about half my life. Other half's been in the countryside in different places.
I hope you find a way to make your dream come true.
Have you ever heard of Country Woman magazine (Reiman publications)? It's kind of nice and country-ish and has a website too. Just a thought. I've been a subscriber (as a gift from someone) for almost 20 years. Love it.

No I was lucky, we grew up in a very small town of about 800 people. It was so nice, everyone knew and looked out for each other. Now I live in a very small town in Northern Michigan.
