Go to the following site, and click on Scan My System. It will mean you downloading a small program, and running it, but Crucial will then be able to tell you the type of memory you need, and whether or not you have free slots to install it into.

Of course, you don't have to buy the memory from Crucial. You could simply make a note of what they tell you, and get it from somewhere cheaper.

it all depends on what ur mem card says in the tower. turn your tower off remove cover and look at the mem card it has in there if you remove it remember to put it back the way you got it out take note of the numbers there are 2 one will say pc**** and the other willl say 256mb they will be on the same card if you want to upgrade it then you will need both values on the card the card itself is about a inch or and inch nd a half tall t most nd about 3-4 inches long take that info 2 your local comp shop and ask them about another mem card it will cost anything upto £120

Yes. You can normally go up to at least 2GB. Unfortunately, you fail to specify exactly which Dell Optiplex you have.

Check the Dell website for more information.

the amount of ram you can add is entirely dependent on your motherboard and what it will take.
look on your motherboard manual or take your computer to your local computer shop and ask them to have a look.
you should have no problems running multiple programs on 512mb ddr ram.
