Because you live in America where individualism isn't valued as much as European cultures. Plus, people are stupid ;-)

Honestly I don't really know. I have alot of friends that are goth (but i'm not) and their pretty great people. Some of my non-goth friends have asked me about why I even hang out with them. In their perspective they see goths as someone who doesn't care about life, suicidal, some are even scared of them. lol. I don't know maybe they give them a hard time cause they think that thats what their life is about. But it's not.

When you put yourself out there like that, then well you're sorda asking for attention and that's what you'll get... How about just turning it around on them and asking them some stupid questions. When they ask are you Gothic.. just reply No I'm still mourning the death of this society! I'm not goth i can understand why it would get annoying.

because people must be nosey and get into other peoples business....i use to work at hot topic and I'm not the type of person to work there cuz I'm all about AE, hollister, and abercrombie and ftich. even tho i was an outcast on how i dressed they still took me in and i got along with everyone..i worked wth a goth chick n she was my favorite co worker. i didn't care about her style of dress and why she was a goth i was more into her personality.

By what you said here - people are just asking you questions, I don't really consider that *giving you a hard time* - but more on the inquisitive side of people.

Now if you want to know about hard time - try being a natural blonde like I am and see what kind of remarks people tend to make towards you :-)

You're not Goth. They were wiped off the map a long time ago. Do you even know what Goth is? Really? It was an Eastern European Germanic tribe that inhabited the now Romania area. They are known for their architecture and becoming very catholic after continuous run ins with the Romans. (Hence, the current name.) Their flag was Orange with black cross.

Because being "goth" is the lamest by far of all the ways for young teenagers to rebel. You all dress exactly the same, in order to show how different you are. Go figure.

I think just because you look different and people simply don't understand.

At least they are asking you questions and not trying to beat you up! This is your chance to educate those people who are asking.
