An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

Comcast supplies really crappy internet gateway/routers. The only way to fix it is to unplug it, wait about 30 seconds, and plug it back in and wait a minute for it to reconnect. Mine goes out several times a day. And this is the second one- we got a replacement, and this one loses its connection more often than the first one.

One thing you can do is give them back the gateway and get a regular cable modem from them. Then buy a router from the store and set up your network with your own equipment. Not a Netgear router because that's the brand that Comcast uses.

in case you're having intermittent issues and the cable line is fantastic there is is two achieveable issues. the two your transmit point is two low or 2 intense(transmit is frequency wherein the modem recieves information and responds back to the pinnacle end) Or the modem is undesirable. many times in case you acquire the modem from comcast you will have a 365 days guarantee on it, yet while your renting it then they'd desire to come change it with a clean one.
