light or pale red. Something that is not redder than your hair color and a faded color. I'm a guy and I would think a lipstick like this or mabey something red but still a little more subdued would not look like a girl is out man-hunting and shouldn't upset your hubby. Any type of bright red lipstick either says a woman is looking for a man or has a very, strong personality. Just look for a more faded color that doesn't make such a strong statement. I'm sure that the make-up people at the make up counter of any nice department store will be able to help you if you explain the situation to them.

ruby red lips are stunning on pale people, think dita von teese and gwen stefani. the trick to finding the perfect red lipstick is knowing the right amount of blue or orange undertones. a red lipstick with a blue undertone is for a more formal event, so try a red lipstick with orange undertones for the more relaxed occasions, but be careful as some red lipsticks can make your teeth look yellow.

If you are going with the red lipstick, make sure to keep your eye makeup minimal, otherwise you WILL end up looking like a freakish doll!

If you have spots, especially around the mouth or chin, play the lips down and wear dark/bright eyes. But now you say your skin is clear, so I would definately say go for red lipstick! To help you get used to colour on your lips tone down your eye make-up a bit, and use a red gloss or stain on your lips. Your eyes and lips should be in balance as they are both meduim toned. Once you are used to that, tone down your eyes even further -use natural or pale shadows, brown eyeliner and mascara - and use a warm, strong red on your lips. Make sure you apply it precisely because mistakes show up easily in this colour. I find it helps to use a matching liner. And dont be afraid that it will wash out your skin, use a warm peach blusher to give you a glow and you'll look great!

Keep your eyes as natural as possible... stay away from colors like blue or green cuz that can quickly go into hooker territory, LOL. Since red lipstick is so classic, I'd say classic eyes like a little bit of black or dar brown eyeliner on top and black mascara (think Marylin Monroe). Not very much makeup at all. Or if you want to do a smokey eye, stick to dark brown, NOT black eyeshadow (again, you're going for "Marylin Monroe," not "Taylor Momsen" ;]). Hope that helps :)

You should try a pinkish-brown shade. I think Clinique has a shade called Pink Chocolate...it is very lovely and looks great with pale skin. Avoid pure reds...not a good idea unless you are the lead singer of a goth band.

The trick is to emphasise either the lips or the eyes but not both. If you want to wear a red lipstick, keep the eye makeup light; if you want to emphasise your eyes go for a fairly natural pinkish lipstick. Of course you can do different things on different days.

The best thing you can do is to seek advice of a beauty consultant in a large store and they will advise. There are many difference shades of red and am sure there will be one that is suitable. Once you know the shade you can always buy a cheaper version is expense of that recommended is too much.

Good Luck and hope this helps.

If you want to wear foundation but don't have terrible skin, try Neutrogena SkinClearing Clean Tint, you can find it on Neutrogena.com under "cosmetics" and "foundation". This way your skin tone will be even by using a light/sheer makeup that helps keep skin clear by using salicylic acid.

(If you want to cover your skin due to bad blemishes, try Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free makeup)

Also, I would wear a pale-pink lip shade.
If you have blue eyes, use a brown eyeliner and apply it on the lashlines and smudge it in.
Pinks and taupes work for eye colors
If you want to add color to your face, use a bright pink blush and blend it in very well on your cheekbones. (first i would wipe the brush on my forearm to get rid of excess blush). Though the blush will be bright pink in the container, it can be very light and subtle on your face if blended correctly

If you have whiter than white teeth you can go for red lipstick. If you don't have white teeth the red makes the teeth look discoloured and yellow, which isn't an atractive look!
Try a pale shimmery lipgloss. Dior have gorgeous lipglosses, or try rimmels lipglosses for a cheaper option.

I think you could get away with red lipstick if you're going out and dressing up but otherwise I'd give it a wide berth. Have you tried mixing your lipstick colours? Try a bit of subtle pink in with your browny tones. Experiment and develop your own shade.

Hope that helps
