His digestive system is not yet able to digest and process any kind of solid foods. It just sounds like he is growing and a good rate and therefore he is hungry. Just feed him when he wants to eat and as he grows he will need less feedings and feel full, longer. Be sure to wait until your doctor ok's the cereal or else you may run into problems if you give it to him while he's too young!

He's probably hitting his 3 month growth spurt and is going to be a bottomless pit for a little while (mine was that way at 3 months also). If your dr says no cereal, no cereal. The reason they say this is that most babies digestive tracks aren't ready to start digesting cereal until 4-6 months. Yes, people have done it, but I know some people who have actually have had major health issues because of it (it's rare, but it does happen). Also, there are more calories in the formula that you give your son than the cereal. They have also done some studies and found that there was no real benefit to giving children cereal before 4 months old.

My son did the same thing. He is most likely going through a growth spurt and this could last for a couple of weeks. Don't stress its all OK. As for the cereal the Docs don't advise it now before 6 mths because they say "introducing solids increases the chance of baby developing an allergic reaction". Its sounds like you son is doing very well and it not malnourished. Bear with it for the next few weeks he should settle down, if not well it is then up to you as to wether you want to try a tsp or so of cereal in his formula. If he looks intereasted in food when you eat try him with a spoon. Go with you gut, mothers instincts always knows best.

My son has just turned 3 months old and has started to doing something similar. I've put in down to the fact that since he was 10 weeks old he has been sleeping through the night. So i figure he is making up for some of the feeds he would have been missing out on. He use to feed every 4 hours but since he started sleeping through he is feeding barely every 3 hours during the day.

I added cereal, got my baby constipated but it did prolong his
'fullness" . Are you sure he's hungry though and not just bored? I noticed that with mine. At night he'd sleep 3-4 hours before getting hungry, during the day, he seems hungry every hour. Sometimes I give him pedia light or a pacifier. Also, try putting him over your shoulder. Baby might be crying if he's got a burp in him.

sounds like he is hungry. give him a solid 4 ounces of formula and see if that slows the craving down a little. If not, try 6 or 8 oz. Without something a little more solid, he isn't getting enough food with just the formula. Be careful because you don't want to overfeed him.

Baby's go through growth spurts. It won't last like that. It will level out. Try massaging him and rocking him. Don't give him solid foods yet. It could cause him to have allergy problems and then you REALLY will have a problem. Go ahead and make him a big bottle sp you aren't messing with several bottles. If he is that large, he need more, but don't risk solid food.

i think you should just try giving him 5 ounces at a time.if that doesn't seem to satisfy him then go to 6. i would ask his pediatrician about giving him some infant cereal, but not in a bottle that really isn't recommended. it should be spoon fed to him and only about a tablespoon, i am sure that if the doctor gives you the go ahead he is going to tell you the same.

I would add a little cereal to thicken the bottle. He would want less bottles because he is fuller. That is what I did with my second baby. She was a little on the heavy side but when she started walking she walked all the excess weight off and now she is 3 and little.
