Funny you should ask this question because I have just completed 15 years of experiments on this very subject.

Without boring you with all the statististics and technical stuff, the answer is 'Extra Mints. Cool burst. Lasting Freshness.'

We have proved that if an 83 year old man puts one of these in his mouth, under the tongue, and closes the mouth gently - it only takes 4 swipes with a 14lb sledge hammer on to the back of the head to make the said mint disappear.

However, some people swear that it actually left the mouth after the first blow and rolled under the fridge in the corner of the kitchen, but no one wanted to move the fridge because we think there's a mouse under there.
