It will depend on what events you are looking at participating in. The majority of track events will be shorted distances than what you are used to in cross country so I wouldn't run further. Get your coach to teach you the A's and B's of running. Basically they are very quick short steps raising your knees as high as possible and the other is a slower paced step where you raise your knee up high then extend your foot out forwards like a goosestep. Do both of those about 15 yards at a time and switch back and forth. I would also work on your reaction time to the gun. Have a friend clap for you so that you can work on your acceleration. Another good thing to work on acceleration is to tie a tire to your waist or a sand bag or something like that and drag it. This builds a lot of strength....stairs stairs stairs and more stairs or hills if you don't have stairs. Those are some basic things that could get you started....if of course you were planning on doing more field I can't reallly help with the jumping.

How you coach is stylish at the occasion or parties wherein you are going to compete. Throwers (shotputters, discus throwers, and javelin throwers) ought to paintings on manner, stability and each higher and minimize leg force. Distance runners ought to paintings on staying power and kick. Sprinters must paintings on begins and explosiveness - higher and minimize frame force. Jumpers ought to paintings on manner and explosiveness. Track and subject is plenty of amusing. Pick the occasion(s) that you just wish to do, and speak to the others that do this occasion. Most harriers (monitor men) are lovely cool approximately serving to each and every different, proper up till the time it is time to get within the lane. Remember, in monitor, you compete extra with your self than all people else. Always attempt to beat your possess PR (private list). Best of good fortune - and consider to stretch.
