It really depends what you're interested in. I just read "The Accidental Buddhist" which deals with a struggle of faith. Simple read and interesting but I don't know if that's up your alley.

Sherlock Holmes stories are good - short mysteries that are interesting and fairly easy to read. They could also keep you hooked because they're mysteries.

How - to books on just about any topic can be fun and are fairly simple. You could try the "Idiot's Guides" or the " _________ for Dummies" books. No insult intended - that's just the name of the series and they're good books.

Best advice, though, would be to go to your local library or bookstore and let them know you'd like to find a book at about 5th to 8th grade reading level on __________ (whatever topic you're interested in).

Good luck!

I remember this really good book I read in like 7th grade...it's called "Searching for David's Heart" by Cherie Bennett. I think it's actually a movie now and was aired on ABC Family. It's just the best book you will ever read. And I really think that if you pass up the chance to read this then you're really missing out.

I also loved "Where the red fern grows" by Wilson Rawls. Its a book about a boy who wants 2 coon dogs, but his parents are poor. He finds an ad in the paper for two pups for 50 bucks. He works for 2 years and saves up the money. He travels out into the city to get his pups. He trains em and they become the best coon huntin dogs. In the end, the pups died( lil ann, the girl, died because she couldnt live w/o old dan) and old dan died after he had a fight with another animal. Where they were burried, a red fern grew. Its really a sad story of never giving up. I loved it a lot.

A good non-fiction book? Hmm...

Perhaps you might choose a topic. There are many great ones out there, but I'm partial to fiction, myself...

Do you like stories if they're true, or just not into narratives at all?

Try something by Robert Fulghum -- Real stuff, and not over hard.

I hope this helps.
