Biggest issue is Company car tax, you can use an online calculator to work it out - just google "Company car tax calculator".
I had a Fiat Ulysee people carrier, cost a fortune in tax, something like 25% of full price of £20k.
I now drive a Honda Civic hybrid, tax is 1% less than the lowest tax there is (extra bonus for a green car).

will you have a company fuel card? you will pay tax on this also
petrol or diesel? your taxed also, diesel is the cheaper tax option
do you have to pay for private milage? again the diesel option better.
try and stick to less than 2ltr's, also watch thr Co2 emissions, i drive an auto and these are worse than a manual. they tax you to the hilt on anything these days and you'll generally have the car for 3 years (my cycle for the last 10 years or so) do you have the option of the 4x4 mitsubishi truck type vehicles that are the trend? these are classed as commercial vehicles and you will only pay approx £200 PER YEAR for them and if it's only for commuting then go for one.. they not motorway cars tho!! however think goverment about to change that law but you will still save a packet even if you only get away with 1 years worth of tax!

UK?
You will be taxed at some arbitrary rate based on the the value of the model as new - so if they give you a five year old corsa, your taxation will be based on the value of a brand new one.
You will be taxed a flat rate for "personal usage" of fuel - getting to and from your regular place of work is deemed "personal" usage.
You can claim back legitimate mileage undertaken for work purposes, but you have to log it and claim it from UK revenue & customs.
End of the day - take a car allowance and buy your own car. Gordon paid for my MG that way.

It's not worth having is what you should consider. Why pay more tax on a benefit you will get no use out of. Better to ask for a slight pay raise instead and put it towards a car of your own.

IF YOUR BOSS GIVES YOU THE OPTION OF PERSONAL USE, GRAB IT, WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET A NICE CAR AT NEGLIGABLE COST TO YOU. I HAVE ONE, AND NEEDED 4 NEW TYRES FOR IT LAST MONTH, 1 WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS, BILL WAS £350. COST TO ME; NIL!

The bigger more gas-guzzling the car
the more income tax you will pay.
