can someone find informantion like where you live by putting down a cell phone number on the computer?

They can tell where your provider is based by going to http://www.411.com and putting the number in the reverse phone directory.

I dont think you can because i tried that to find out where my friend lives but it was with her home phone number

yes. Even emails. Go to www.geobytes.com Just tell them the IP number of the email sent. i'm not sure where you can do that to phones.
