I think she had the whole
femininity-good-looking- charasmatic thing going on
Yeah she was a good actress, but i think she had the whole look and personality going better for her than the acting..She sorta set the standard for all woman back then.

A decent actor
But the movie business is a business first and foremost....all entertainment seeks a specific audience........your not going to see a pro conservative musical on Broadway......a Jewish soap opera in the afternoon........a hip hop afternoon show.....or a disco radio station...........or Shakespeare live on network TV
If you don't have the material desire or the venues to show your talent.....your always going to have restrictions depending on the medium you are in and the time period you live in
MM would have tough time today when roles seek to have women kicking butt......or pushovers for males.....or the female to the lead male actor

I think Marilyn Monroe had a lot of talent.She was also quite the intellect and I feel she was very misunderstood.
