You've neglected to make your question a little more clear on what about the Pontiac Vibe you need to know about, so I'll give you the basic rundown.

The Pontiac Vibe is a small 4-Door wagon produced by Pontiac in cooperation with Toyota. Toyota's version is called the Corolla Matrix, and both the Corolla Matrix and the Vibe are based on the American-market Toyota Corolla.

The Pontiac Vibe has been in production since 2003 and is availabe in two trim lines, Base and GT, both powered by Toyota I-4 engines. The Base model has 130 Horsepower, and the GT model has 180 Horsepower. The comparable Toyota models are the XR and the XRS. Both vehicles are available with either Front-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive. The Vibe can be had as a two-tone, with the lower plastic body panels in either black or gray, or as a single color. Transmissions include 5- and 6-Speed manual transmission and a 4-Speed automatic transmission. Both models get good gas mileage with either Front- or All-Wheel Drive, and both have excellent interior room and rather tasteful styling.

They compete with other All-Wheel Drive wagons like the Ford Freestyle, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Subaru Forester. Similar, but more expensive models include the Audi A6 Allroad, Subaru Legacy Outback, and Volvo XC70.

Consumer Reports lists both the Vibe and the Corolla Matrix as reliable, and recommends both of them.

I'd say it sounds like an overall good vehicle for a first-time driver or someone who needs to haul more than a standard compact sedan. Go for the All-Wheel Drive option if you live in a northern climate that gets snow or ice in winter.

If you have any more questions about any of these, or any other models, please feel free to ask.

Excellent car! I have to correct the Stephen's post. The Pontiac Vibe is actually a twin of the Toyota Matrix. The styling my be a tiny bit different but they share all the same running gear. So, the car really isn't a GM product after all.
