My ex is still very bitter and it makes it difficult for us to make joint decisions in regards to the kids. The counselor told me she is not ready for that "step" yet which is working together on co parenting. Meanwhile I want to move ahead and start working with her through co counseling. It is important to start working with the kids, how can I help her move forward?

You can't help your ex move forward. She's got to do it on her own. The expediency of her recovery will depend upon the circumstances of the divorce. If the divorce was nasty or due to infidelity...yikes. It's going to take a while for that to work itself out of her system. If I were you, I would steer clear of her until she comes to her own terms with everything. For some people, it takes getting involved in another relationship to set things aside. Everyone is different. But if you jump in there with your 2 cents worth while she's bitter and angry, you're not going to be helping the situation at all.

I'd give her some breathing room and let her work it out in counseling. Do the best you can at parenting your kids without getting her involved for the time being.

if she is procrastinating then you get the counseling for yourself.
