Don't go to petsmart for buying an animal, they honestly don't really care for the animals all they see is MONEY. Adopt one, try this website I've gotten 2 guinea pigs from there:
www.petfinder.com
My suggestions are this:
-A dog, now if you haven't adopted a dog before do alot of research and make sure the dog doesn't require special needs unless you're up for the challange. I'd also make sure it's ok around children.
-Guinea pigs, I own 6 at the moment. They are very sweet, squeak when they hear that bag of hay haha. Small and have no tail since you don't seem so keen with the ratties or mice. They live for about 5-7 years with proper care, small enough to hold but not to small. They can't produce there own vitamin C so they need that in there diet EVERY day. here is some websites to help you out.

Good Luck!

Choosing a pet you have to take a few things into conciderations...

1. What type of pets do you like?
2. How big you want your pet to be?
3. How much room do you have in your home?
4. How much time and care are you willing to give them?
5. How much money are you willing to spend on the pets needs?

I am sure there are a lot more that can be added on this list, but be careful and choose the right pet that fits your needs, wants and desires...that way you both are not so unhappy with the decission you have made.

Rabbits make great indoor pets as long as you keep the cage clean, or if you want to let it run around, you can train it to use a cat's litter box! Before you get one, go to PetsMart and by a book there on the care and feeding of Rabbits (I know they have them there because that's where I bought mine). Read the book carefully, it will tell you all about what to feed them, how to hold them and how to tell a boy from a girl. I recommend female rabbits as they are much more docile and enjoy being held. When you're ready to get your bunny, try to buy one of the mini varieties like a mini lop, they only get to be about 3 - 5 pounds. Buy a baby rabbit and hold as often as possible this will help it get used to being handled. I think you'll love having a bunny as a pet!

I was going to say Guinea Pig too...it was my favorite pet as a kid! They have such great personalities! But, a lot of parents think that GPs are just like rats and hamsters (wrong!) so that may not be an option for you.
Ever consider an iguana? Not as creepy as a snake, and if you get it young and handle it often, it'll be real easy to carry around. Or, how about a parakeet? Fairly cheap and cute!

It relatively relies upon on your way of existence. Small animals like hamsters, gerbils, mice, and so on. make greater efficient pets for people who have not got too plenty loose time- in spite of the undeniable fact that in case you have no longer have been given plenty in any respect then i does no longer advise you get a puppy interior the 1st place. Cats and dogs of course take plenty greater time and funds, yet could additionally advantages you with greater love and affection. Rabbits and Guinea Pigs are form of in between, they take greater time and funds than a hamster, yet under a dogs or cat. Then there is fish, that could properly be as hassle-free or confusing to shelter as you chosen, reckoning on what you get. Bettas probable being the least confusing, saltwater fish being the toughest and costliest. there is likewise birds and reptiles, yet i in my opinion have not had as plenty journey with those and that they do no longer look to be precisely my known animals. I at present have 2 cats, a dogs, 8 mice, 2 rats, a tank of thirteen+freshwater fish and 30+ aquarium snails, 4 bettas (housed in my opinion of direction), and my sisters have guinea pigs which I additionally help shelter. I surely have additionally had spiny mice, rabbits, and a ton greater.

i think you should really talk to mom and dad, theres more to getting a pet than just a low price, because when you get a new pet it still costs alot to take good care of them... they need other stuff too, like food cages, depending on what you want... I just got my daughter a bird, then i had to buy the cage, food dishes, toys... so talk to your parents... and see what you have to spend... dont forget to thank them...
