Juvenile detention is always only until the child becomes an adult. In many states however, juveniles can be tried as adults for capital offenses such as rape. In such a case the child could be sentenced as an adult and could possibly receive a sentence as long as life - though never death.

A child cannot consent to having sex. If a girl says yes, but she's still a girl, it doesn't matter. It's rape. Statutory rape = when an adult has sex with a child (whether the child says yes or no). Remember that a 13 year old, girl or boy, is not done growing yet, literally. P.S. Ignorance of the law is not accepted as an excuse for statutory rape, nor is the ignorance or being misled about the juvenile's age.

Longer than he will if it's not reported.
If you know a 13 year old who was assaulted, urge her to get help and report it.

Hopefully long enough to learn that behavior is a crime and is NEVER acceptable...and to not desire to ever do it again.
