Why not? they're of the same family, Elephantidae. If Asians could have babies with Europeans - then it's possible. Both elephants are the same... they just live in different places and adapted differently so that there appearances and habits differ. Most people would probably not want the two elephants to mate - to keep the gene pole unchanged.

This did happen a few years back,in Chester zoo I think, unfortunately the calf died young.I have not seen any pictures of it but it would probably have some characteristics of each parent,depending on which was the father and which the mother.
