This is pretty much 95% Careless Users & 5% Weak Straps.
Nintendo has already replaces the straps on the Wiimotes with a thicker (& stronger one) on all new systems & Wiimotes. HOWEVER, this wouldn't have been a major problem if THE IDIOT PLAYERS WOULD LEARN TO HOLD ONTO THE WIIMOTE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
NINTENDO WRITES WITHIN THEIR MANUAL THAT YOU SHOULD NOT LET GO OF THE WIIMOTE WHILE PLAYING!!! (Which people seem to be doing, for some idiotic reason)
Pardon me for venting on this, but people are pretty careless when it comes to this kind of stuff.

oh ya! the Wii is perfectly fine....its just that people are putting WAY too much effort into the game play and because of that it puts tension on the string that holds the strap to the controller and when their hands get sweaty and the strap breaks......of course the controller will fly out of their hands and break something...

I too think that it is mostly the people... They get angry then put more force into the game.
However, after looking at the wrist strap for the controller, there is a SLIM chance that it could break. [The lanyard for my flash drive is more stable]

There's no problem wit the console. Just because there are certain consumers to stupid to properly operate the remote does not mean that the system has issues.

personally, i think its a bit of both.
apparently the wrist straps are a bit too thin, and the players a bit too intense. but honestly, if your hand is getting that sweaty that your controller would slip out of your hand, pause and wipe it off on your pants!

controllers busting tv screens sounds like operator error like they are throwing it or something.
