We have been married for a little over a year and separated for almost a month. About a year into our marriage I found out my wife is bipolar. Will that be grounds for getting an annulment? I don't want to get a divorce or an annulment but it's been impossible to deal with her the last 9 months and she doesn't want to get help and I found out she was dating a guy while we were living so I asked her to move out and that has been the end of it.

What happened to the part of loving her in SICKNESS as in HEALTH of your marriage? Did you forget about it?

Instead of considering an annulment, you should consider joining a support group to help you out understand your wife and get her the help she needs.

Too bad you both made that promise about sickness and health eh? Annulment is probably out unless you can prove she KNEW she was sick PRIOR to marrying you and married you without telling you she was ill. I would suggest you consult a lawyer and work on getting care for your wife as well as a divorce. It sounds like both of you might be better off without one another. And my dear, before making another marriage, you might want to discuss with your future bride how you will not be there for any sickness in the future. It may not change anything, but she should know you won't be there should she be the one getting ill, and she should know that before saying "I DO" to you. Good luck!

You have the right to an annulment since she has a mental disorder that you knew nothing about. Do not feel ashamed about it!

You get an annulment if the marriage was not consummated.

Adultery will be your best reason. The bipolarity won't do anything, since it was brought on a year after you married.
