is that it?

if you need to break it into factors, => 9x * (x+4)

so 9x * x = 9x^2 and 9x * 4 = 36x

i hope that's what you're looking for, using the distributive law for multiplication over addition x (y + z) = xy + xz

9x^2+36x=0
divide by x
9x+36=0
subtract 36 from both sides
9x=-36
divide by 9
x=-4

You need more detail. Are we solving for x? Does the sum equal zero? The best I can come up with, given what you have provided, is:
3x * (3x + 12)
