Sheepdogs like to be shaved. Mine is 7 and every time I shave her, she goes nuts with excitement. I don't know if the heat bothers them, it was about 85 here yesterday and my sheepdog (which isn't shaved) didn't want to come inside. I do know that their skin is very sensitive so if you shave him, don't take it down too far, because he could get sunburn very easy. A groomer will usually shave them for between $30-$60, depending on how tough it is to do. You can do it yourself if you have the right equipment.
