Hong Kong has a higher standard of living than Malaysia so I would think products in Hong Kong are more expensive. If you are looking for luxury goods, you may want to purchase them from the boutiques in Hong Kong because there's no tax. There are many street vendors selling the fake brand name bags and jewelry-ignore them. Enjoy your trip!!

Hong Kong has no sales tax. And also a higher concentration of shops in one small area. So i would suggest Hong Kong would be the cheaper place for shopping. Particularly for electronic items

100 % sure Malaysia is cheaper... if you compare apples with apples.. reason is because the standard of living in Malaysia is alot lower than in Hong Kong. I got to know this from my Hong Kong friends when they travel to Malaysia for holiday.

Hong Kong is definitely for shopping. 1) No sales tax at all ~ for all citizens and tourists, not fuss ro claim tax. 2) You can even shop till 10pm, even till midnight in some area. 3) Wide range of products available, from Luxurious items in many high-class shopping mall, to local owned stands. And don't forget to bargain. especially during sales season before the Chinese New Year in late Feb this year!!

There's everything in Hong Kong, cheap or expensive. I think things in Malaysia can be quite cheap too, but you'll find newer, better quality (compared to Malaysia) and more fashionable things in Hong Kong.

So, Hong Kong = better quality, new, fashionable, cheap and Malaysia = only cheap.

Hong Kong definitely. But if you're into pirated CDs, Malaysia sells pirated copies even inside the mall. They don't have respect for intellectual rights!

both places has their own advantage when it comes to buying things.so far Malaysia has been favourite by tourist because of its variety of things where u can get a cheaper price.besides Malaysia is promoting Visit Malaysia 2007 where of course they have its famous Mega Sales between March till Jun and YES (year end sales). u can get many items u like at very reasonable price.
