the boeing 757 is a more advanced aircraft than say easyjets 737s. plus they only land and fly out of bristol once a day.

It was each airline's own decision to not land at Bristol - maybe CO weren't the only ones to continue landing. Perhaps the Continental pilots didn't experience a problem, seeing as they only land there once per day, whereas other airlines land several times a day and had more collective experience of the new surface.

The "problem" only lasted a couple of days anyway.

CO were the first to land at the "re-resurfaced" runway BTW.

the pilot was braver. I live about 12 miles from BIA and it was so weird not having the planes going over. perhaps coz the plane was larger the brakes are better. Sorry don't really know

My guess is that the Continental pilot was Hard Core

It was down to the individual airlines. The runway was perfectly safe.
