The suggestion to look at walmart.com or just a walmart is a great idea. You will need to know a few things beforehand though.
1st - A baby at first uses around 10-15 diapers a day. So when you price diapers, you will need to know how many you will need for a month. Baby wipes, you usually use 1 everytime you clean them...sometimes you have to use two with messy diapers, but if you are thrify, when they are just wet, a half will work (especially if it is a boy) so count one for each time you change them.
2nd- Baby will need at least 10 onzies, These are used for shirts as well as for underneath to keep warm. It doesn't matter what color, usually white is the best, but a variety is nice too. Bibs, they don't usually use until later, unless they are a drooly baby, so maybe 2-3 bibs would be plenty. Socks, they need at least 5 pair when they are infants. Mits you can usually get away with 3 or so. You can price the hats etc at walmart, it is the best to go to get everything you need for a good deal, Target is good too if you have one nearby. They will need at least 3 receiving blankets, one heavy blanket, at least 2 crib sheets, and one mattress cover or pad.
3rd - If you are pricing nursing, you will need to price a pump and nursing pads...a bra or two would be a good idea too. If you are doing a formula pricing, check on the lables for the serving size and find out how much the baby will need each time you feed them and how many times they need to be fed. Bottles can be found anywhere, dollar stores, walmart etc.
4th - cottonbalsl, lotion, oils, soap, just do one bottle or one bar for the month.
You can price out the equipment there as well, they are all in one section so it shouldn't take too long. I don't know about a photographer...check on the internet for that one.
Medical...usually health insurance has a copay for each time you visit the doctor, which is once a month, until your 7th month, then you go twice a week, until your 8th month, you go weekly. Of course that also depends on the doctor, so research it. A copay can be anywhere from 15-35 dollars a visit. After a deductible, you pay a percentage of the cost. If you want outright cost, (depending on where you are) it is close to 12-15 thousand dollars for hospital and delivery, and 20-25 thousand for a c-section.
Prenatals are quite expensive, if you look at the label, the walmart equate children's vitamins are just the same, so look into that, it is cheaper, that is what I did, and they are great on tender tummies that have morning sickness.
Good luck! I hope this helps.

This is what I spend each month

diapers: 20-60 dollers per month
formula 120-160 dollers per month
baby wipes : 10 dollers per month

cost of my equipment:
bathtub : 20 dollers
cradle : 30 dollers second hand 99 dollers new
carseat/baby carrier/stroller all in one 300 dollers
bottles : 100-150 dollers so far includes bottle sterilizer
nail clippers and files : 6 dollers
waterproof mattress covers: do not need.
sheets and mattress pads : 60 dollers
bed in bag includes sheets bumper and blanket 160 dollers
heavy blankets and recieving blankets worth 250 dollers
digital camera 200 dollers
memory card for camera 60 dollers on sale
prenatal vitamins 20 dollers
live in canada everything else free except room which was 25 dollers

now i dont need to buy clothes bibs etc every month but the total spent on all of that initially was probably 600 dollers for the first three months. Now I buy all clothes second hand for the most part which will average up to 25-50 dollers a month.

Babies are very expensive but it is not always smart to buy everything brand new..or buy all the name brands.

I would suggest that you go online to say www.sears.com or www.walmart.com. You can look at their online catalogues, compare the prices and then list the best price. Sears does not carry diapers and formula but I would say for formula that is' free. Tell them taht you would be breastfeeding. That is what I did. Diapers are about 20$/bag and you go through about 4 bags or so. Formula is about 10-20$ per can depending on size and hwo much the baby eats I would say that it would cost about 100$ per month. Food is extra say like the jars are about 1$ per jar at 2-3 jars per day 90$/month. Medical insurance that I pay is about 100$ per month and that is basic. dental is about the same price. A waterproof mattress you can buy for 100-150$. A crib you can buy anywhere from $150-200, Car seat you can buy for $100 a stroller you can buy for $100. blankets are about 20$ each you should have about 5 or so. Bottles can very in price anywhere form $4 - $15 depending on the brand and style. Oh god do you see how this adds up and from what I looked at this is mostly bottom of the line items. This is just a few of the items that I was able to find for you.

First i would start at the dollar store and get prices on detergents, socks, bibs, diapers. Go to Walmart somewhere and price clothes and things. Talk to a prediatrician at a hospital and ask for pamphlets. Get some estimates on shots and exams, and all that. I did this same project with the baby think it over. Thats why your teacher wants you to go out and get all that information so you wont want a baby any time soon because its hard work. She wants you to keep in mind and imagine if you had a real one. Its not teaching you anything to just copy blondeness's answer because all prices vary in different states. Id get up off this computer and start looking.

My son uses 140 diapers every two weeks, they are $30 a box, so that's $60 a month. Formula is around 108 ounces a month powdered (before mixing,) and using Enfamil that I get, it's about $164. Baby wipes cost about $8 for the big bag, that lasts about a month.
All your other items you can find prices on-line. But health insurance and such is tricky. Most insurance companies don't pay for pregnancy unless you get your insurance through your job. I've heard the cost of a hospital stay for labor is around $5000.

Here's some ways to save money
diapers-$24/month (store brand diapers!)

Who needs 15 onesies???
I do one load of laundry a day (2 adults, a 3 year old and a 7 week old) I could get by with 5 onesies easy! 5 sleepers and 1 outfit, 3 hats, 15,000 pairs of socks (the washer eats them! LOL) 0 bibs--although I do need burp cloths (cloth diapers are better for this and cost WAY less)

Don't waste your money on mittens--use socks instead!

Formula?? Bottles?? $0-I breastfeed, it's free.

Head to toe baby wash (soap and shampoo in one!)-$3/per bottle, bottle lasts about a month--I have 2 kids.
Lotion $3/bottle-lasts about 4 months

I don't have baby oil in my house as it can be found and drank by a young child and coat theinside of their lungs and they will suffocate.

Powder causes/agravates asthma and other breathing issues, so I don't use that either.

Diaper rash cream-$3 /tube tube lasts a acouple of months

Don't use cotton balls

Baby wipes-$5 generic at walmart for a 3 pack refill I buy once every couple of months. You can throw dirty wipes in the washer with the clothes and use them again! Twice the bang for your buck.

I make homemade laundry detergent that costs about $15 for 5 month supply

Fabric softner-about $3/month (gain)

You don't NEED a bathtub-wash baby in the sink or he can take a bath with mommy or daddy.

I made a home made wrap (baby carrier) for $6 from 6 yards of $1 fabric www.wearyourbaby.com

Cradle? Sheets? Mattress pads? Co-sleep (that's baby sleeping with parents) Then you don't need those things
Bumper pads for cribs increase the risk of SIDS

Car seat--$100 or less

Nail clippers $1

2 heavy blankets-5 receiving blankets

Camera and film? $1000's! LOL

Toys? whatever you can afford-with our 1st we spent maybe $10-$20 every 2 weeks on toys until his 1st Christmas-we rarely buy any toys now. Between Chirstmas and birthdays and 2 kids-we don't have to buy toys and we STILL have too many! Seriously, we bought our 3 year old 2 toys for Chirstmas and that was it. The rest was clothes and movies and useful stuff. Don't feel bad-his toy box is too full to close after getting rid of 3 big trashbags full of toys!!

Baby doesn't need vitamins (gets all he needs from breastmilk or formula--I'm starting to think your teacher might need someone to teach HER how to take care of a baby!!)

My doc charges $70/ office visit $115 for vaccine visits
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you take your baby in for at least nine checkups during the first three years.
$700 to have him
1-4 weeks--depending on your baby and your doctor (my doc does a one week for 1st time breastfeeding mom a 2 week for all others) $70
2 months $115
4 months $115
6 months $115
9 months $115
12 months $115
15 months $115
18 months $115
24 months $70
Yearly from 3 years up
Not to mention 6-8 sick visits/year at $70 for the average child.
Our ins costs approx $200/month for family of 4 for medical, dental, vision, Rx, life(70k on my hubby, 25k on me and 10k on each kid), AD&D (same amts)
My prenatals wre $41/month and I have to take them while breastfeeding too (at least 2 years)
And my 7week old is on meds that cost $25/mo (and will be until he's around 2)

Although if you qualify for medicaid--all the doctor visits, and medications are usually free.

Agree with GP. IF you get 15 answers here--and I doubt that you do--they would all be different. If you do it yourself--you have proof of the prices. It probably won't take as long as you think. Make your list before you leave. Then write down prices--and you can see what you have done and still need to do.
Good luck. Get a good grade.

Best suggestion -- go to Walmart (or wherever) and start pricing the items. You will get a better grade if YOU really go look instead of getting a ton of different answers and then 'guess' on your answers.

Do a search on the internet for each subject and write it down then add it up!
