It depends on the university, but for the psychology major, generally, you will have some lower division classes that serve as prerequisites for upper division classes. Some examples of the lower division classes are an introductory class, a methods class, a statistics class, and maybe a basic biopsychology class.

After you complete your lower division classes, you can decide which upper division class you'd like to take. They'll range from abnormal psych, to social psych, to developmental, cognitive, evolutionary, among many more fields.
