How much would a repair like this cost? Is this a big thing? If it wasnt repaired what would happen?

If it's a bearing, not knowing who diagnosed it, it will cause your wheeel to fall off eventually. Go to a shop and get it checked, fast.
It could be a simple bearing replacement or there may be other damage depending on how long it has been driven.

Right as opposed to wrong, or left? The right and left are alike. Check with O'Reilly Auto Parts or Autozone, whoever is in your neighborhood. If left bad long enough the wheel will lay over to one side, and ruin your front brake disk and if not repaired after that wheel loss will result. It has always been my experience that wheel loss from a moving vehicle, if not serious, is at least more excitement than most people can stand.
