I think family is the most important american tradition. However, other traditions such as ignorance, unacceptance, and bigotry are historically "American traditions". I believe that American traditions must take into consideration both the good and the bad. In these days, with the Iraq/Afghanistan/9/11 affair, ignorance is running rampant with new fervor. It's sad, but it seems that this is "America's tradition".

The most celebrated: Christmas.
The most American and historic: Thanksgiving.
The most patriotic: July 4th.
The most respectful: Memorial Day.
But, overall, probably Thanksgiving.

Well, America is made up of many different people with many different culture/backgrounds so I don't know if there is one thing. However, I guess July 4th may be one....everybody celebrates that holiday.

I agree somewhat with your first answer, but I would have to say Thanksgiving Day....which is not as significant as it should be in my opinion.
