This may be a stupid question, but why are we not supposed to lift heavier stuff when pregnant?? I work with dogs and have to lift them all day long. Is it only in the 3rd trimester, or through the whole pregnancy that I shouldn't be lifting?

It really depends on you individually. I shoed horses the whole time I was pregnant. I wouldn't lift a dog that you know struggles a lot but wouldn't worry other than that.

You shouldnt lift because as you get bigger (starting about 2nd trimester) Your ligaments all get very loose in order to stretch. You are more likley to tear a mucsle (which i did.......very painful dont suggest it...just let someone else do it)
Its also very hard on your back

My doc tells me that your body will let you know. He suggest not lifting very heavy things and use good posture. Also it depends on your pregnancy and own personal risks.

Talk to your dr. about lifting.
You uterus and all your ligaments that hold it are already being stretched alot. Lifting puts extra strain on them.

40 pounds is max if you have a good pregnancy. Ask your doctor

you shouldn't be lifting cuz you could drop something heavy on you and it could hurt your baby.
