I see your point. Isn't everything natural then. Humans are natural, so our actions are natural, and anything we create should therefore be natural.
However, humans tend to screw with nature. All the other lifeforms tend to leave nature alone, while humans, with intention, attempt to modify nature.

Could you build a house without an architect and plans? Are the materials used in building a house pulled out of the ground or are they manufactured. A beaver does not go to the Home Depot or Lowes for his materials. He bites a tree, for heaven's sakes. Same thing with bird nests. Next time you build a house out of twigs and mud without an architect and building plans. . . you can call it natural. Fair enough? When a human being gives birth to another human being, without drugs, that's natural.

Because a nest or a dam is made of the natural elements in the forms that the animals find them in. A nest is natural twigs, leaves, mud, etc.
A house is "manufactured" beams of cut wood, siding made of fabricated plastics and concrete, consisting of a mixture of elements not originally made to be together.
Theres a difference, although subtle.

go back to the root word "nature" and think about it. "natural" is a derivative of the word nature, you see. so if you think it through, you will understand why you really never needed ask that question. is silly putty found in nature? noooo, it is not natural. see what i mean? ask your mama. to expand on part two of your question just try to understand that if the beaver built a house and the man chewed down the trees and built a dam that would be unnatural. this is probably too much analysis. don't worry bout it!

I think whoever said that ment that humans don't make there houses enviromentally friendly.
Most houses now days are made of or with SO many chemicals that won't biodegrade.
When a birds nest blows down, it decomposes.
When a human made house crashes, the metal, glue, and rubber will remain there for hundreds to thousands of years.

because there are people out there convinced that humanity is a scourge upon the earth, and calling everything humand do "unnatural" makes them feel better. even better is the people who like to eat only "natural" foods, when selective breading of plants and animals has been going on for the past 3000 years at a minimum o.0

Because, when you build a house, you use all artificial material. A bird builds its nest using natural resources and natural instincts.
You build a hut, its called natural.
You make a pot, its called natural.

A dam and a nest is not natural. Whenever some living creature creates something it is not natural.

I used to ask myself the same question.
I think that anything built or created by humans using higher intelligence is considered unnatural.

because we are not natural. Beavers don't tyopically install lighting and plumbing into thier homes. We change and cohearse materials to suit our needs, while animals use simply the materials supplied by mother nature
