Playoffs!! BCS does not work!!

Playoffs. It is more exciting and will produce an on-the-field winner. I don't care if a 2 loss team wins in an 8 team playoff or a 3 loss team wins in a 16 team playoff, as long as they can duke it out on the field. Of course, the bickering will continue about the teams that just miss the playoffs, but we can keep some bowls around for those less fortunate. That way the schools can still make some money and the bowls can . . . do whatever it is they do.
It will never happen. The NCAA and the bowls themselves make too much money to let a cash cow like the BCS get away.

I've had this conversation before. Every other team oriented collegiate sports team has playoffs. And, playoffs would prove to make much more sense than the BCS.

But when you think about it, football is the only sport where they play less than 20 games in a season (what is it, like 12?) And, because they are not pro players, they not only don't get paid to play, but they are still in school. It would be almost impossible for college football players to actually play in a playoff series.

Although, I would like to see some playoffs. Screw 'em. I wanna see some better match-ups =]

Use the BCS rating system to see what 8 teams play in the playoffs.

Playoffs overall.

it depends on what type of "national champion" you want. if you want the champ to simply be the team that wins the last few games of the season, then by all means a playoff is for you. but if you want something different, something that takes the whole season into account and makes every single game important, then you need something other than a playoff. playoffs are fine for other sports, but it would pretty much ruin the college football regular season, rendering it mostly meaningless.

but the bcs rather sucks too.

I think playoffs clearly determine who is the best, but schools make more cash and get more recognition with bowl games so it won't change anytime soon. Also, smaller schools have a better chance to be in the liemlight. Everyone feels like they are going to a championship game and it makes more people get involved, not just hardcore fans.
