How can you change wet to dry?

Question

You can only change one letter at a time and the new word that you make must make a word in the English language.

The Russian author Vladimir Nabokov called this "word golf," as in both cases, the better one is, the fewer "swings" one has to take. It's loads of fun! Here's my cut on turning wet to dry:
