They can't tell you 100% that it wont. All they can do is say it is less likely to have them. Your baby will be fine. Most of the time they catch these things. I have had 3 babies and they are each perfect. Yours will be too. Good luck and Congrats

I really dont want this to scare you,you are 3 weeks away, just enjoy it while you can.I am sure all will be fine.I am 34,this is my first and it did not have anything to do with my age.You and your baby will be fine, get the epidural!!Good luck.
I want to add that even though my son has this defect,he is a normal healthy eating sleeping crying adorable baby,ya we have a life long of heart surgerys but hey,we can handle it,there is amazing technology out there.

This is not typical. While no test can test you exactly how you're baby will be when it's born. It's highly unlikely in this day and age with technology that tests miss something.
There is a series of tests your doctor performs to insure your baby is safe and healthy.
For eg. The blood test you had checks for abnormalities in your baby. Because mother and baby share the same blood, your babies blood and your blood are seen in screenings.
U/S. are very effective in showing weither a baby has an abnormalities. These can determine a number of things like cleft palate, down syndrome, heart deffects, brain deffects, spinal deffects.
Tests don't show mental abnormalities though. Like autisim etc.
I am sure everything will be fine with your baby. If nothing has been detected by the tests it's likely your child is healthy and safe. If you are that concerned you could suggest and amnio test done. Believe it or not this has crossed every pregnant woman's mind! No need for unnecessary stress at this time.

I wouldn't freak out so much, stress isn't good for you or baby. Besides what if it does have a birth defect, nothing you can do about it now....you're about to be term!! :o) Relax and enjoy these last few weeks, because you'll be going full steam ahead once the baby is here. But no I have not had a sonogram and been told about birth defects either way, i even chose not to do the testing for birth defects, either way I'm keeping MY baby. I mean what are you going to do if you're so far along and get tested and it turns out positive??? Try to relax some.

dont worry...your baby is more than likely healthy and normal. I havent experienced that but i did know someone who had a sister who's baby was born with chromosome 22 and they had absolutely no idea. The u/s for them came back normal but her afp test in the beginning came back positive. However, they werent alarmed by it b/c you can get a lot of false positives with that test. You just never know. I believe god gives you what you can take care of! good Luck to you and congratulations.
