i have both, and i can tell you, all snakes are different.

as a rule, corns are more "user-friendly", although one of the corns my fiance' and i have is the most evil, vindictive non-human i have ever met.

ball pythons (aka royal pythons in england) are a good snake, but they are much more head shy, and can be easily stressed. they tend to go off food more commonly than corns, and it can be a chore to get them to eat again(this is usually harmless, sometimes they just aren't hungry)

i'd suggest a corn, but whatever snake you decide on, study it before you buy it, and handle it (or one similar, if you plan on mail-order) before you make your decision.

The most social snakes are gartersnakes, in that they not only tolerate one another but will chase away snakes that aren't the same species and will interact with one another. Corn snakes are more social than ball pythons. However, corn snakes have more energy and can get away from you if you're not careful. A ball python is usually (but not always) less easily startled and seems to calm down sooner. As a defense, corn snakes try to slither away, whereas a ball python will "ball up."

Corn snakes tend to max out at 5 ft, and ball pythons are about 5-7 ft. One is about 1 1/2 -2 inches in diameter, and the other is closer to 4 inches. It's up to you which snake suits you better. Both will eat mice.

a ball python is very easy to hold and extremely tame, same with the corn. the only difference is that colubrids(family of the cornsnake) tend to be a bit uneasy at times and if they want to go, they can really move, Fast! A ball python will move very slow, even at full speed because of large bodies. however, corns are a little easier to care for than balls. bps need light, heat, moisture, certain food(notorious for being picky eaters, haven't had any problem with my 4 though), while a corn can be as simple as small amount of heat, food and some water every once in a while. Ball pythons also tend to be the Houdinis of the snake world :) . I have kept my corns in exactly that condition, although i take them out in the sun to bask everyday. Good Luck! Hope this helps!

I've never heard of a ball python, but I'm almost completely sure that corn snakes are gentle.

Ball Bythons are more friendly, but also get larger. Make sure you check with your state agricultal dept. before you get any snakes though because ball pythons are illegal in some states. Another thing about snakes is that they are a hard to take care of animal. You must make sure you have an appropriate cage with lighting/heat fixtures. They also eat frozen/live mice (I'd recommend frozen b/c they don't transmit parasites) Just make sure everything is ready before you bring your new pet home.

i might say ball python. they are much less probable to chew and are somewhat docile. i've got had mine for somewhat now and hes a sweetheart. Humidity could properly be an argument while you're no longer prepared to put in the attempt yet once you're then it is going to be positive. Corn snakes are greater sketchy i stumble on.

They are both very docile snakes and ideal for beginners, only problem with royal pythons (ball pythons) is they can be fussy eaters, but you can be lucky and get one that feeds fine, other than that they are both nice easy snakes to own

the ball python is a bit more social if handled on a regular basis. In the summer i will go for a walk around the neighborhood with mine around my arm and kids will flock to me and ask me all sorts of questions about him.. They are very docile and loved to be handled.
